With its approx. 950 pupils the Lise-Meitner-Gymnasium is the largest education centre of its kind in the county of Brandenburg.

The complex was built in 1981 in prefabricated concrete style and was repaired unsatisfactory since then. One of the visions the dean advanced since its establishment (in 1991) is the "Arena Mindpool-Project" in regard of the increasing comfort for education and teachers.

The "arena", a semi-circle with approx. 350 seats, refers as the interface between the inside and the outside, between education and break, between school and public. It can be used as an exterior classroom (opened roof) or as an assembly hall and/ or breaktime space (closed roof). The "Mindpool", connects inside the building to the "Arena" and turns with flexible space division into a platform for communi- cation (theatre-workshop, cafeteria, practice rooms).
